The Transactional Processing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the UK Transactional Processing function, ensuring that standardised processes are followed, payments are made in a timely manner and that receipts are processed correctly. The role holder will ensure that Education Development Trust (EDT) policy and relevant regulatory requirements are met and will act as the main point of contact for best practice on a global scale, providing support and advice to the international finance teams. The Transactional Processing Manager will play a key role in implementing new processes and procedures required to meet compliance and business requirements and ensuring that current processes are efficient and effective .

The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective deployment of resource to support across the wide range of transactional activity within the UK ledger and line manage the UK Transactional Processing Team, providing technical and managerial support, training and guidance to ensure that the individual and team objectives are met.

Whilst a significant focus of the role will be on the UK transactional processing, the role holder will need to be able to work with the international regional finance teams to advise and support on best practice, ensuring a consistent approach across EDT and identifying areas for Improvement. Working with the General Accounting & Statutory Reporting Manager and the Finance Director, the role holder will need to be able to proactively review Company policy, processes and procedures relating to transactional processing to ensure they are fit for purpose and provide key controls for the business.

Knowledge

Essential:

\xc2\xbb Good general education to GCSE level (or equivalent), including Maths and English \xc2\xbb A thorough understanding of transactional processing best practice

\xc2\xbb A thorough understanding of basic accounting concepts and processes.

\xc2\xbb A strong understanding of relevant HMRC legislation - VAT, PAYE Settlement Payment Practices legislation and dispensations

Experience

Essential:

Significant experience of running a transactional processing department and driving improvements in systems and processes, including implementing new processes \xc2\xbb Experience of a customer facing role dealing with both internal and external customers

\xc2\xbb Previous line management experience, including the ability to manage a high-performing team

\xc2\xbb Experience of delivering training to users via various methodologies \xc2\xbb Experience of preparing and reviewing spreadsheets

Desirable:

\xc2\xbb Previous use of Unit 4 Business World (formally Agresso)

\xc2\xbb A good understanding of credit control best practice

\xc2\xbb Involvement in product development and user acceptance testing of system changes

\xc2\xbb Experience of documenting systems and processes and preparing user guides
