About the role:
We are currently seeking a Transition Support Assistant to join our Specialist Provision department at The Bedford College Group
.
As a Transition Support Assistant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
Student Support & Engagement
- Provide educational, personal and social support to students under the guidance of teaching staff, ensuring safety, inclusion and positive engagement in learning.
Targeted Interventions & NEET Prevention
- Deliver focused interventions for students at risk of becoming NEET, working collaboratively with curriculum teams and cross?college support services to keep learners on programme.
Classroom & Tutor Support
- Assist tutors with planning and delivering learning activities, monitoring and recording progress, maintaining classroom discipline, preparing resources, and providing class cover when required.
Curriculum & College Support
- Support English, maths and other curriculum areas as agreed, contribute to EHCP and pastoral plans, assist with college visits, and support the efficient operation of the College through teamwork and flexibility.
Professional & Statutory Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality, participate in training and performance management, and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health & safety, and statutory duties at all times.
About you:
Qualifications & Training
- GCSE?level (or equivalent) Maths and English, with willingness to undertake initial teacher training.
Experience with Children & SEND
- At least two years' experience working with children or young people in a school or college setting, including a minimum of six months supporting learners with SEND within the last five years.
Educational Support Skills
- Strong understanding of learners' educational needs, with the ability to plan, develop and support engaging educational activities in a classroom environment.
Working Style & IT Skills
- Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, use IT effectively in the classroom, operate with a degree of independence, and adapt flexibly to changing needs.
