Main Responsibilities



Implement the company's transport strategy to ensure the provision of the best possible quality of service Maintain regular contact with hauliers to resolve any issues, identify opportunities, improving service levels and efficiency's Working with the site manager and National transport manager using forward planning to ensure that daily despatch tonnages are achieved and maintained effectively and efficiently Ensure the national haulier database is maintained with accurate and up to date information To comply with legislation and industry codes in relation to hazardous substances and all other requirements Overseeing the despatch desk and ensuring the weighbridge is operated in accordance with company procedures and policies, ensuring vehicles are weighed in and off site Accurately creating/amending bookings, picklists and confirming picklists Ensuring goods are received and despatched accurately according to company procedures and protocols Checking of legal compliance with required legislation (ADR documentation) Ensuring that all outstanding bookings are executed on a daily basis by regularly communicating with haulage companies, where booked loads have not been collected. Raising any issues with the Transport co-ordinator & Site Management Ensuring the health and safety site rules are clearly explained to haulage contractors Ensuring accurate information is produced for Ship discharges (Site Dependant) Chasing collect and delivered orders to ensure product is despatched from site within the agreed time period Updating and maintaining the national chasers system to ensure that all issues in relation to "delivered" orders are recorded Updating and maintaining non delivery reasons Working under the guidance of the Business Support Services team in relation to company policies, procedures and processes Assisting colleagues on site or at other sites across the UK due to holiday, sickness or workload to ensure the smooth running of the national business (No travel required) Training other office Transport or despatch desk staff (Depending on Experience) Ensuring goods are received and despatched accurately according to company procedures and protocols Ensuring accurate information is produced for Ship discharges (Site Dependent) Ensuring the health and safety site rules are clearly explained to haulage contractors Checking of legal compliance with required legislation (ADR documentation) Ensuring that all bookings are executed on a daily basis by regularly communicating with haulage companies, where booked loads have not been collected Ensuring that all picklists are scanned daily and reconciles with the picklist not scanned daily report Communicating on the telephone with Customers and Hauliers in a polite and courteous manner To adhere to company procedures in relation to all aspects of the IT systems Assisting Site Management in the execution of their administrative and office management duties as required To carry out any reasonable request from Site Management and National Transport Manager



Key Skills




Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills Organised with perfect time keeping Excellent verbal and written English Excellent attention to detail A can do attitude is essential in this role, to ensure our customers receive a high level of service An excellent telephone manner is essential, having the ability to communicate clearly at all levels and keep a calm presence within the office and on the telephone when under pressure A good team member with the ability to work in a small onsite team, nationally with transport coordinators from other sites and the Business support services team Accurate computer skills required to ensure the correct costs are set against the correct haulage contractor Pro-active attitude with the desire to help others when possible Flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities A Sound knowledge of UK geography and the major transport networks is advantageous
Good general understanding of PC applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel
