We are seeking an organised, proactive Transport and Compliance Manager to oversee and continuously improve our compliance, safety and operational standards across our fleet. This is a pivotal role, working closely with both our workshop and operations team to ensure our fleet, drivers and processes meet the highest standards.
Pay is negotiable, and dependent on experience.
Responsibilities include:
-Actively manage compliance with all O license undertakings.
- Monitor drivers' hours using Optac management software and implement corrective actions where required.
- Act as a liaison between the workshop and transport office, ensuring effective communication and smooth operational flow.
- Responsible for scheduling vehicle PMI, MOT and rectification work.
- Coordinate and support with various accreditations and standards, including:
o ISO standards and audits (9001, 14001, 45001)
o FORS audits (Bronze, Silver and Gold)
o Constructionline
o Achilles
- Respond to vehicle faults or breakdowns as they occur, organising a quick, well thought out response and effectively implementing it.
- Complete various compliance reports relating to the transport operation.
- Oversee staff training, development and competency programmes.
- Conduct accident investigations and managing related insurance claims from report to resolution.
About you:
- You will have a strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
- Previous experience working within construction based logistics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
- Meticulous attention to detail, be hands on and have a proactive approach to risk management.
- Experience in a similar compliance or transport management role is highly desirable.
- Passionate about maintaining high standards and driving continuous improvement.
- Have prior experience with external compliance-based audits.
Qualifications and skills:
- Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (highly desirable)
- FORS practitioner certificate (highly desirable)
- Experience using OPTAC or similar transport compliance software.
- A full UK driving license (required),
