Mitchell and Urwin are looking to recruit a Transport Assistant to strengthen the Transport side of the business. If you are looking to join our friendly and professional team, this role could be right for you.

Purpose of the Role

The Transport Assistant supports the Hub Controller in the efficient and compliant running of the companys transport operations. This includes oversight of drivers, vehicles, compliance records, and service schedules.





The role ensures that transport activities are carried out in line with legal requirements, company policies, and operational needs.


What you'll do:


===================


Support the scheduling of vehicle servicing, MOTs, and repairs. Assist with load planning, route optimisation, and vehicle allocation. Ensure all fleet operations comply with DVSA regulations and company standards. Maintain accurate records for vehicle maintenance, inspections, and defect reporting. Monitor and confirm daily driver walkaround checks and defect submissions. Carry out vehicle inspections and oversee vehicle handovers. Support the Transport Manager with accident and incident investigations. Update delivery records promptly once goods have been dispatched or received. Further ad hoc duties to assist the Hub Controller.

Person Specification



Essential Skills & Experience:
Previous experience in transport, logistics, or fleet management. Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements. Understanding of driver hours, tachographs, and Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations. Full UK driving licence.

Key Attributes:

Excellent organisational and administrative skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proactive problem-solving approach with good communication skills.
