Job Description

Transport & Operations Support required for our Trafford Park based logistics, plant and equipment hire company.

As a leading provider of products including concrete barriers and blocks for hire and sale to property sites, events and highway maintenance schemes, we predominantly deliver our own range of products across the UK mainland. This now also includes an extensive range of other event related stock. In addition to this, we provide general multi-drop haulage with our fleet of Moffett truck mounted forklift equipped vehicles for other external customers.

You'll primarily be responsible for assisting the Transport & Operations Planner who is responsible for the delivery of effective and efficient transport routes across multiple yards for a number of drivers and vehicles. In addition you will work alongside the wider team answering customer queries and liaising with drivers.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Quoting for jobs.
Customer liaison.
Vehicle productivity.
Vehicle uptime by reducing vehicle off road (VOR) time.
100% POD and POC compliance to ensure revenue collection.
Working pro-actively to reduce missed time-slots & late deliveries.
Ensuring any transport issues arising from customers & drivers are resolved.
Briefing & De-Briefing drivers.
To succeed in the role we require a committed individual with the following experience, skill-set and behaviours:

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
The role will cover resources and routes from multiple yards with vehicles and people.
Warehouse, transport and operational planning in a similar or transferable environment. Such as a warehouse and/or transport office.
Someone who has or is working towards a Transport Manager CPC would be ideal.
IT skills, a good level of technical proficiency is preferred in business management related systems such as MCS rental software and general Microsoft applications such as Excel.
Excellent geographical knowledge of UK road network.
Personable nature with a "can do" approach to their work.
A strong focus on exceeding customers expectations.
A good understanding of how to be assertive and to react appropriately depending on the circumstances.
Commercial focus with an understanding of the impact of cost on the transport operation.
A drive to be proactive. This role requires forward planning and being able to react and think quickly. Solving problems on the go.
40 hours minimum per week - based on 5 weekdays. The working day will typically be from 0930-1800hrs. Flexibility and being able to do some paid overtime, is a requirement of the job.

28 days holiday (including bank holidays) per year with holiday pay.

30,000-34,000 per annum
