Bennie Haulage provides haulage and transport services for both the construction and equipment sectors. Our fleet of 8-wheel tipper trucks, curtain siders, low loaders and crane lorries available for bulk haulage, muck away, and plant & machine transport across the UK.
Our heritage in haulage dates back decades to a time when Bennie used to run in excess of 50 tippers across Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas. Our fleet of modern vehicles are available to meet all customer requirements.

JOB ROLE
The Transport Planner - Admin Assistant is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring effective transportation plans to ensure the efficient movement of goods for Bennie and its customers.
This role requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of logistics systems, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, and suppliers. The Transport Planner aims to optimize routes, manage costs, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards over seen by the Transport Manager.
The role is Office-based with occasional visits to warehouses and other Bennie offices as required. It May involve working outside regular business hours to address urgent transportation needs, or to cover sickness and absence so would suit someone who can be flexible at short notice.
This role would suit an individual with strong experience planning Tippers and Aggregate movements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Coordination:
Develop and implement efficient transportation plans to meet delivery deadlines and minimize costs.
Plan and schedule routes and loads for drivers or vehicles, considering delivery priorities and vehicle capacity.
Coordinate with suppliers, drivers, and warehouse staff to ensure seamless operations.
Optimization and Analysis:
Analyse transportation data to identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving measures.
Monitor and adjust plans in response to changes in demand, weather, or unforeseen delays.
Use transportation management software (TMS) or route planning tools to optimize operations.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all transportation activities comply with legal, environmental, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate documentation for audits, inspections, and legal requirements.
Communication and Reporting:
Serve as the point of contact for drivers, customers, and suppliers regarding transportation issues.
Reports to the Transport Manager on transportation performance, costs, and employee challenges as they arises.
Problem-Solving and Crisis Management:
Address and resolve transportation-related issues, such as delays, equipment breakdowns, or route disruptions.

COMPETENCIES
Experience of working within a fast-moving office environment
Proven experience in transport planning, logistics, or a similar role is essential.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization tools.
Confident use of Microsoft Office, Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook and Sage200.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices.
CPC Transport Management qualification would be of benefit.
