This role, along with several others we're recruiting for, comes as a result of continued business growth, contract wins and internal promotions across the Group.
Transport planning is the heartbeat of our operation. Working in harmony with our Customer Service and Operations teams, you'll make sure every consignment finds the right path:
Customer Service
validate jobs and communicate with customers.
Operations
support drivers and manage deliveries in real time.
Planning
builds "the plan" for the following day, deciding whether freight runs on our own fleet, through pallet networks (Palletline and Hazchem), or via our trusted subcontractors - cemented by over 70 years as the longest-serving member of the Transport Association.
Get this right and trucks run profitably, customers stay happy, and carbon footprints shrink.
What you'll do
Build and optimise daily/weekly transport plans using our (TMS Qargo)
Allocate vehicles and drivers, ensuring compliance with WTD, drivers' hours and ADR regulations
Work closely with Warehouse teams, Operations and Customer Service to deliver excellent service
Build relationships with established, long standing subcontractors (we don't use selling platforms)
Track key metrics such as utilisation, empty running, and CO? per mile
Provide clear communication across the team and to customers
Take part in a shared Saturday Morning Rota (
What we're looking for
Experience in transport/traffic planning for a multi-vehicle fleet preferred, but someone who likes puzzles.
Confident using a web based planning platform (TMS, Qargo or similar)
Solid knowledge of drivers' hours and compliance rules (UK & EU)
Strong problem-solving skills with a calm, proactive approach
Good communication and customer service skills
A genuine interest in sustainable logistics (training will be provided)
