Transport Planner

Moran Logistics are experts in multi-temperature controlled transport and warehousing. Operating 24/7, ensuring the efficient storage, picking, loading and delivery of chilled, ambient or frozen food - from production line to retailer distribution centre (RDC) or direct to retail stores. We're currently recruiting for a Transport Planner to be based at our site in Castle Donington, working 06:00-18:00 on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. In return we are offering a salary of 29,000 per annum and 20 days holiday.
What you'll do on a typical day:
Daily planning of routes, liaising with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure all backhauls and additional loads are planned in an efficient and cost effective manner Work with the resource and transport teams to proactively adapt and change the live plan to counter any daily challenges to minimise any impact to our customer Assist with planning and costing of new work, actively working towards continuous improvement across the network to increase efficiency and make costs savings for the business Effectively communicate and assist internal and external stakeholders to support them with resolving planning and customer service issues Capture, analyse and act upon data to provide KPI reports to all stakeholders
What you need to succeed at Moran Logistics:
Experience working within planning or transport environments (2+ years previous planning experience would be highly advantageous) Excellent UK geographical and road network knowledge A good understanding of compliance and driver hours would be beneficial It's important you have exposure of working in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Proficient working with all MS Office applications Previous experience working with Transport Management Systems and Microlise would be an advantage Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with acute attention to detail * Able to work on own initiative and be highly self-motivated
