A key member of the Planning Team, with a shared responsibility for ensuring the day-to-day transport function operates as efficiently as possible. Ensuring exceptional levels of service whilst maintaining a clear commercial focus and maximising revenue through efficiency.
The planner will have a Focus Responsibility area but also shared Traffic Office responsibilities, to ensure that all workload and tasks are completed, with a proactive approach to problem solving. This will include supporting/covering other teams when needed, based on workflow demands.
Individual Focus Responsibility
Efficient local delivery operation. Driver route adjustments and load allocations, ensuring all vehicles loaded and scanned, drivers briefed and on route as planned with the objective of ensuring all freight is delivered on time and in full, adhering to any specific requirements, problem solving as needed.
Planning outbound trunks and capacity management to identify, and address, any resource requirements.
Shared Traffic Office Responsibilities
Assigned activity on the shared Traffic Office task planner.
Ensure a thorough handover is completed and action any outstanding issues.
Always ensure focus on commerciality and service levels, identifying efficiencies.
Regularly liaise with customers, partners, drivers, internal teams; working together to resolve issues, tracking progress, and communicating updates.
Flexing plans as needed to take account of unexpected delays, quantity changes, customer requirements or vehicle issues, ensuring any delays or adjustments are recorded and communicated.
Handle Palletline issues that arise during the shift, responding to Network Partner messages in a timely manner and ensuring that the IT systems are kept updated with progress.
Achieve all Palletline KPI and Edge Objective and Key Result (OKR) targets.
Liaise with our network of hauliers and sub-contractors as to ensure all loads are covered and backhauls maximised.
Ensure all Transport related calls and emails are dealt with in a timely manner.

Working Hours
42.5 contracted hours per week, typically Monday to Friday 06.00 to 15:00 with 1 in 5 Saturday morning shifts on a rota basis. A degree of flexibility will be required as the shifts and day to day responsibilities may change depending on the need to cover other Traffic Planner roles.
