Job Description

Lewis Tank Transport (LTT) is an independent specialist tank-container logistics provider located near Goole, England, with over 60 years of combined experience. The company provides transport for liquid chemicals, food, and gases, and is well-positioned to service the UK chemical industry due to its proximity to the ports of Immingham and Hull. They operate specialized ADR-certified vehicles and are committed to safety, quality, and environmental standards, with ISO 9000 and SQAS certifications. Due to continued market deveopment we require an additional Transport Planner.

Specific duties

1. Working with customers/suppliers/drivers, planning routes and in-house customer service desks to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

2. Prioritising workload, route planning driver brief and de-brief

3. Strong organisational skills for planning schedules, journeys and load

4. Ability to work flexibly and to make decisions quickly

5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels

6. Maintain computerised system, have the skills to use excel spread sheet

7. A good understanding of transport regulations currently in force

8. Good geographical knowledge.

9. Must monitor Compliance and work with drivers and Compliance to eliminate infringements

10. Must be an integral part of, and is responsible for employee health and safety

11. Ensure that vehicles and trailers are available in a timely manner to adhere to Compliance and inspection requirements

12. Provide general support appropriate to the management when required

13. Attention to detail, job administration, accuracy and timely processing is of great importance

Compentences and knowledge for the role.

Analytical and problem-solving skills:

Ability to analyze complex data and solve problems related to traffic and transportation.

Technical proficiency:

Competence with computer software for modeling and data analysis, such as ArcGIS, VISUM, or Saturn.

Communication skills:

Strong written and verbal communication for reports, presentations, and public meetings.

Knowledge of transport principles:

Understanding of transport methods, costs, benefits, and safety practices.

Profit motive:

To be able to gain additional loads from customers to ensure that vehicle earnings and utilisation targets are achieve.
