We are now seeking a

Transport Planner

to join our logistics team and help us continue to deliver excellence every day.

Role Overview

The Transport Planner will be responsible for coordinating and optimising daily deliveries across Ireland, ensuring timely and cost-effective transport operations. This role requires strong planning, communication, and system skills--particularly within our systems --to manage orders, routes, and vehicle utilisation effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and schedule daily delivery routes across the North and South of Ireland. Use our systems (Intact IQ, Optifleet, and Vision trackz) to manage and schedule loads and track transport performance. Liaise with warehouse and customer service teams to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries. Manage inter-branch stock movements Coordinate with drivers to communicate delivery schedules, route changes, and special instructions. Monitor delivery progress, resolve transport-related issues, and communicate delays to relevant stakeholders. Analyse delivery data to identify efficiency improvements, reduce transport costs, and enhance service levels. Ensure compliance with transport regulations, driver hours, and health & safety policies. Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage, and delivery documentation. Support continuous improvement projects within logistics and distribution.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

Proven experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role. Working knowledge of ERP systems and transport management systems. Strong geographical knowledge of Ireland (North & South). Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Competent IT skills (Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems).

Desirable:

Experience in the flooring, building materials, or similar distribution sectors. Understanding of fleet management and vehicle maintenance scheduling. Background in route optimisation and logistics cost control.
