The transportation infrastructure sector in Northern Ireland is experiencing unprecedented levels of investment and AtkinsRealis is leading projects to upgrade existing transport networks to deliver future demand including active travel initiatives, rail upgrades as well as extensive public transport corridor enhancements. We are also working closely with our clients to support their digital transformation and are developing new initiatives to help them deliver on their Net Zero commitments.


AtkinsRealis is going from strength to strength in Northern Ireland and we have exciting growth plans to further expand our business in response to this pipeline of work and we are looking to enhance our transport planning team in Belfast. We are currently seeking a talented, experienced individual to help deliver transport planning projects for our expanding client base. The roles will also involve supporting our wider AtkinsRealis business working across both Scotland and the North of England.

Your purpose:

We are recruiting a Senior Transport Planner for our Movement and Place practice and would like to discuss this exciting opportunity with prospective candidates. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wishes to contribute to shaping and growing a high performing, dynamic team, working seamlessly across our national business. We cover all aspects of multidisciplinary service provision, and our transport planners support our clients in finding the best outcomes for their transport challenges. We develop innovative solutions and advise on everything from project costs and benefits to the best options to unlock investment. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with particular development planning experience to support our clients in attaining planning permission for a wide range of projects.

What you can bring:

Successful applicants will be flexible, self-motivated and will be expected to demonstrate a capability in any of the following:

Development planning (preferred). Development of multi-modal transport strategies and plans (local and strategic). Scheme appraisal and business case preparation. Transport scheme development including Active Travel. Feasibility and corridor studies.

Security clearance :

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
