The Role
We are seeking
two
Transport Planners / Coordinators to manage the daily planning and scheduling of our vehicle operations - one within our 8-wheel Tipper fleet (at
Wick Quarry, BS30 5SJ
) and one within our RoRo fleet (at
Saltersford Lane, SN14 0RN
).
These roles are key in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transport services while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and optimise daily routes in line with operational and customer requirements.
Allocate, upload, and manage tickets using transport management systems (e.g. Weighsoft, Tachomaster).
Communicate schedules, updates, and changes to drivers in real time.
Monitor workloads, compliance (WTD, EU Driving laws), and fleet movements.
Ensure timely completion of collections, deliveries, and exchanges.
Maintain accurate transport records, timesheets, and retorque logs.
Coordinate with customer service and operational teams to resolve issues promptly.
Support route optimisation, downtime analysis, and cost control.
Assist with P&L reporting, driver hours, and asset utilisation reviews.
Who you are
You are organised, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced transport environment. You have experience in transport planning or fleet coordination and can confidently manage HGV drivers while ensuring compliance and efficiency.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Experience in transport planning, logistics, or fleet management.
Familiarity with vehicle routing systems and transport management software.
Strong knowledge of local geography and road networks.
Understanding of WTD, EU Driving regulations, and health & safety standards.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, email) and relevant industry systems.
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable: Experience in waste management or construction industries, CPC qualification, and basic P&L understanding.
