To support the effective day-to-day running of the school's transport operations by supervising minibus drivers, ensuring safe and timely pupil transport, and assisting with fleet management.
This role includes a combination of supervisory responsibilities and driving duties, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency and clear communication.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee daily transport operations, including scheduling and coordination of minibus drivers.
Support logistical planning for school trips, sports fixtures, and off-site activities.
Supervise the accurate records of transport activities, including journey logs, pupil attendance, fuel usage, and incident reports.
Liaise with teaching, administrative, and support staff to meet transport requirements.
Assist with managing driver rotas, absences, and vehicle allocations.
Support emergency transport arrangements and safeguarding procedures as needed.
Promote and uphold a high standard of health and safety practices across all transport operations.
Undertake driving duties as required.
Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Essential
Previous experience in transport operations or fleet supervision.
A valid UK driving licence (category D1 preferred).
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to supervise and support a small team effectively.
Reliable, punctual and safety conscious.
Calm, professional and able to handle emergencies or incidents confidentially.
Desirable
Experience as a School Bus Driver or in an educational transport setting.
First Aid or MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training.
Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (40 hours per week).
This role may require occasional evening and weekend work to attend events (e.g Open Mornings) and to address transport issues as they arise.
Remuneration
A salary in the range of 33,000 - 35,000 per annum will be offered to reflect the individual's skills and experience.
