We are seeking a

driven, organised and professional Transport (Traffic) Planner

to join our planning team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a successful, family owned business.

This is a fast-paced and varied role at the heart of our transport operation. You will be responsible for planning and supervising the daily and weekly movement of vehicles and drivers, ensuring that plans are practical, cost-effective and fully compliant with all legal and customer requirements.

Working closely with drivers, and customers, you will provide clear communication, adapt to challenges in real time and help maintain the high standards of service and compliance expected across our business.

Key Responsibilities



Scheduling vehicles and drivers on a daily and weekly basis, producing clear load plans and driver paperwork packs for our nationwide customer/delivery base Communicating plans effectively to drivers, and customers. Supervising drivers in real time using vehicle tracking systems, resolving delays and adapting plans to meet unforeseen conditions. Ensuring drivers have all necessary customer documents. Maintaining driver rotas, managing holiday cover and ensuring compliance with driver hours regulations, infringement procedures and compliance documentation answering to the Transport Manager Booking vehicle inspections, MOTs, maintenance and defect repairs with the in-house garage.

Key Requirements



Experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or a related operational role. Good geographical knowledge of the UK Planning and managing

60+ vehicles per day

Optimising routes to

minimise costs and maximise vehicle revenue including maximising backloads

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Good knowledge of transport compliance, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance requirements and relevant documentation. Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with drivers, customers and colleagues using a variety of communication methods. Ability to work under pressure, adapt plans in real time and provide practical solutions to unforeseen challenges. IT skills, including use of vehicle tracking systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Having experience and knowledge of RoadRunner would be an advantage Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in planning, paperwork and compliance records. Proactively planning to prevent delays and maintain service levels Working closely with fellow planners to support our existing client base Liaising with drivers, service providers and the Fleet Manager to resolve issues such as breakdowns Coordinating vehicle maintenance schedules with the Fleet Manager Communicating with Site Managers to provide accurate ETAs and key delivery information

About You



You will be a confident and adaptable planner with strong attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience in

vehicle route planning

, preferably within the logistics sector A strong understanding of

Driving Hours and Working Time Regulations

Excellent organisational and communication skills in planning day, night and tramper drivers A professional and confident telephone manner The ability to work effectively as part of a team A proactive approach with clear ownership of tasks

Pay: 35,000.00-45,000.00 per year - dependant on experience and commitment to the role.
