Wheeldon Brothers Waste LTD is a well-established and family-run waste management company operating across multiple permitted sites in Greater Manchester. We specialise in recycling, skip hire, and the production of sustainable fuels such as SRF.
We are seeking a Transport / Office Team Leader to take a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy site office. This position combines transport coordination with office management responsibilities, providing essential support to our management team and ensuring smooth, compliant, and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Coordination:
Assist the Transport planners with the daily scheduling of collections and deliveries for skips, wagons, and plant.
Plan driver routes efficiently, ensuring compliance with driver hours, tachograph rules, and company procedures.
Liaise with drivers, customers, and site teams to handle queries, changes, or issues throughout the day.
Maintain up-to-date records of vehicle defects, inspections, and maintenance.
Support with transport compliance, ensuring all activities meet DVSA and waste carrier regulations.
Office Management:
Oversee the day-to-day running of the office, ensuring all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Supervise and support office staff, helping to coordinate workloads, maintain organisation, and promote teamwork.
Ensure customer enquiries, orders, and communications are handled promptly and professionally.
Monitor documentation and filing systems, ensuring records are accurate and audit-ready.
Work closely with management on operational efficiency, reporting, and process improvement.
Support HR and accounts functions when required (e.g. absence reporting, timesheets, purchase orders, etc.).
Ensure a professional and well-organised office environment at all times.
Skills and Experience
Proven experience in transport coordination, logistics, or office leadership.
Experience in the waste management or recycling industry is highly desirable.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and general office systems.
Knowledge of transport compliance and legislation (Working Time Directive, driver hours, etc.).
A CPC qualification or Transport Manager experience would be an advantage but not essential.
