trustees play a vital role in ensuring our work is sustainable, inclusive, and well governed.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Treasurer Trustee with a background or strong understanding of finance
and accounting to support the financial governance of Interakt. This is a voluntary trustee
role and an excellent opportunity to use your financial skills to make a meaningful social
impact.
As Treasurer, you will provide oversight and guidance on budgeting, financial reporting,
forecasting, and year-end accounts, working closely with the CEO, fellow trustees, bookeeper and Interakt's external accountant.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the lead trustee for financial oversight and good financial governance.
Support the development, monitoring, and approval of annual budgets and forecasts.
Review management accounts and financial reports and present key information to the
Board.
Liaise directly with Interakt's Bookkeeper and accountancy firm, year-end accounts, and
independent examination.
Support preparation of the annual report and financial statements for the AGM and
Charity Commission.
Help ensure appropriate financial controls, policies, and reserves are in place.
Work collaboratively with the Chair and CEO to support the charity's financial
sustainability.
Contribute to wider trustee responsibilities, including safeguarding, strategy, and risk
oversight.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
Has experience of finance, accounting, or financial management. At least AAT level 4, but preferably having an ACT, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
Is confident reading and explaining financial information to non-financial colleagues.
Understands (or is willing to learn) charity finance and governance requirements.
Is organised, reliable, and comfortable working with figures and deadlines.
Is collaborative, approachable, and supportive in style.
Shares Interakt's values of inclusion, creativity, respect, and community.
Time Commitment & Term
Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, renewable by agreement.
The Board meets every two months, plus one Annual General Meeting each year.
Additional time may be required around budgeting and year-end reporting periods.
Estimated average commitment: 4-6 hours per month.
Support & What You'll Gain
Full trustee induction and ongoing support from the Chair, CEO, and fellow trustees.
Opportunity to apply your financial skills in a meaningful, values-led organisation.
Experience in charity governance and financial oversight.
The satisfaction of helping a creative charity thrive and grow sustainably.
