As a Welfare Officer, you will act as a visible point of contact for vulnerable individuals at the station, carrying out proactive welfare checks, engaging with passengers and staff, and supporting the safety and security of the location. You will be expected to respond to welfare concerns, assist in de-escalating situations, and liaise with external agencies such as the British Transport Police or ambulance services when necessary.
This is a dynamic and rewarding role where no two shifts are the same. You will need to be observant, approachable, and consistent in your approach to managing sensitive situations.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrying out visible welfare patrols across the station platform and access points
Identifying and supporting vulnerable individuals in need of assistance
Responding calmly to incidents and raising appropriate alerts through reporting systems
Escalating concerns to emergency services or senior management when required
Keeping clear and concise written records of welfare interventions and observations
Attending team briefings and contributing to monthly wellbeing reviews
Maintaining a professional image and upholding Servo Group's values at all times
Requirements:
Experience in a customer service, support, or safeguarding role preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond appropriately to challenging behaviour
Reliable, punctual, and committed to shift attendance
Physically able to carry out patrols and stand for extended periods
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Valid DBS or willingness to complete one prior to starting
Must be able to work a
6 days on / 2 days off
shift pattern, including weekends and early/late hours
