Due to the recent recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Triage Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Brixton
HMP Brixton is now a Category B male prison since April 2025 housing men on remand. Our patients needs will vary greatly but there will be a focus on mental health, substance misuse and early days in custody.
Hours
Part time, 15 hours per week
Salary
From 37,338 to 39,405 per annum, depending on experience (pro rata)

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK on a permanent basis and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
What you'll be doing
As a Triage Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will
Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions, undertaking rapid assessments to evaluate patients' conditions, looking for signs of serious illness or injury.
Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening.
Assign patients to different levels of urgency based on their needs.
Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team.
Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders
Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement, embedding a culture of shared learning.

Qualifications required:
Registered nurse - Adult
Current professional qualification (NMC)
Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
Excellent communication skills
Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
