Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland



Introduction



Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland (Hospice at Home) is looking to recruit passionate, and committed individuals to join the Board of Directors (Trustees). Our Trustees make a meaningful difference to the lives of those within our community, supporting the charity in its mission of providing individualised care and support to those in need of palliative or end-of-life care. We also provide Lymphoedema, Bereavement and Family Support, Befriending, Occupational Therapy and Complementary Therapy services.

The Role



Trustees are legally accountable for the charity. The Board of Trustee Directors is concerned with governance, strategy, and policy and to oversee the performance of the charity and its related operations. Collectively, the Board of Trustees must conform to Charity Commission Six Principles:

Ensure your charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit.

Comply with your charity's governing document and the law.

Act in your charity's best interests.

Manage your charity's resources responsibly.

Act with reasonable care and skill.

Ensure your charity is accountable.

Commitment



The board meets four times per year to which you will commit to a minimum of 50% attendance. You would also play an important role in one or more subcommittees held quarterly. Trustees can serve for a period of up to nine years, but will stand for re-election every 3 years in accordance with the Articles of Association (2024).

About You



We are seeking to appoint trustees who are committed to making a meaningful difference to the lives of those within our community by supporting the charity in its mission of providing individualised care and support to those in need of palliative or end-of-life care.

Experience of charity governance would be an advantage, as would experience of working at organisational board level. but training and support will be given if required.
