This role requires a high level of precision, mechanical aptitude, and adherence to safety procedures to ensure products are manufactured to meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembly & Production:
Assemble turbochargers, sub-assemblies, and related components following technical drawings, assembly instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments (torque wrenches, micrometers, gauges) to ensure correct fitting and alignment.
Carry out balancing, calibration, and testing of turbo units where required.
Handle delicate or high-value components carefully to avoid damage.
Work to daily/weekly production schedules to meet output targets.
Quality & Compliance
Inspect and verify that all parts meet quality standards before and after assembly.
Conduct functional and performance checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
Identify, isolate, and report defective parts, assemblies, or processes to supervisors.
Maintain accurate documentation of assembly activities, parts usage, and test results.
Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, or other industry quality standards (if applicable).
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Adhere strictly to workplace safety guidelines, including correct use of PPE.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in line with 5S principles.
Safely handle tools, equipment, and materials to prevent accidents and injuries.
Report hazards, near misses, or safety concerns promptly.
Continuous Improvement
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
Support Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives where required.
Undertake training to develop skills and support multi-skilling across different assembly tasks.
Skills, Experience & Requirements Essential
Previous experience in mechanical or automotive assembly (minimum 1 year).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and SOPs.
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work shifts/overtime if required.
Desirable
Experience in turbocharger assembly, automotive manufacturing, or precision engineering.
Knowledge of torque procedures, tolerances, and mechanical balancing.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or 5S methodology.
Basic IT/data entry skills for production reporting.
Working Conditions
Workshop/production floor environment with exposure to machinery noise, lubricants, and moving equipment.
Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
May require occasional lifting of components up to 20Kg
Shift patterns may apply depending on production requirements.
