Job Description


WEA have a full-time vacancy for an energetic and inspirational tutor to drive forward our ESOL curriculum and delivery to adults as part of a dynamic North West team. As an experienced and qualified professional Tutor you will be well versed in developing, writing and formulating ESOL curriculum to support learners with their career and progression pathways, that is also interactive and engaging to inspire our adults. Working alongside the team you will be accountable for ensuring quality assurance processes across your ESOL courses in Cheshire. Teaching in local venues around the Warrington area with occasional travel required for partnership meetings in the wider Cheshire areas.

Digital skills will play a fundamental element of the curriculum so you will need to rely upon excellent ICT skills as well as familiarity with digital delivery.

You will deliver classes to adults to support their development and workplace skills for those who are actively looking for employment and training opportunities in line with their career aspirations as part of their educational Programme. You must have a passion for supporting our learners to progress during their course by monitoring attendance, retention and achievement.

As a Tutor, you will provide the highest possible quality teaching and learning to a group of learners, in both face to face classroom and online classroom environments.

Providing engaging teaching, learning and assessment with a creative and supportive approach to teaching, adapting to a range of learning styles, and ability to differentiate delivery to learners with mixed abilities to develop learner`s knowledge and understanding.

Undertaking effective initial assessments and diagnostic activities and preparing course materials, ensuring a wide range of formative and summative assessment practices, which motivates and stretches learners to reach their objectives.

You will plan, prepare and teach courses face to face and online, using Zoom/Teams and Canvas, the WEA`s virtual learning environment. Supporting the wider delivery of a quality curriculum offer that supports the work of the Association.

As a Tutor, you should have:
- Teaching qualification (PCGE, CertEd, DET or equivalent), level 5 specialism and have IQA and Assessor qualifications;
- Experience of design and implementation of innovative learning, schemes of work and lesson plans;
- Experience in a range of initial assessment and diagnostic tools;
- Experience of effective quality improvement processes;
- Experience of quality standardisation, moderation and verification practices;
- Strong working knowledge of Ofsteds Education Inspection Framework;
- A strong team work ethic. We like to collaborate and support each other;
