About Macademia



Macademia is a creative, forward-thinking learning academy offering real-world professional courses for young people aged 8-16. We deliver inspiring, hands-on sessions across engineering, medicine, architecture, sustainability, business, project management and more.

Our mission is simple: to give children the opportunity to explore future careers, discover their strengths, and build confidence through practical, engaging learning.

We are now expanding our team and seeking passionate tutors who can bring these subjects to life.

The Role



We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and knowledgeable Tutors to lead weekly Macademia Young Professionals sessions. Each tutor will be responsible for delivering one or more specialist modules such as:

Engineering - What is Engineering? Medicine - The Human Body Business & Entrepreneurship - What Is a Business? Sustainability & Environment - Our Planet & Climate Architecture - Introduction to Architecture Portfolio Building & Creative Careers Project Management - Understanding Projects
This role is ideal for educators, industry professionals, university students in relevant fields, or anyone with strong subject expertise and a passion for inspiring young learners.

Key Responsibilities



Deliver engaging, hands-on sessions following Macademia's curriculum (training and materials provided). Adapt teaching to suit different ages and learning needs, including SEN learners. Encourage creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and confidence. Prepare simple weekly lesson plans aligned with course outcomes. Provide supportive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents where appropriate. Ensure sessions are safe, positive, inclusive, and enjoyable for all learners. Represent Macademia's values of encouragement, curiosity, and respect.

Experience & Skills



Essential:



Subject knowledge in at least one of the modules above. Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, youth work, or working with children. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create a warm, supportive learning environment. A valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one prior to starting). Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:



Experience with hands-on, project-based or creative learning. Knowledge of SEN strategies or inclusive teaching approaches. Industry or academic background in engineering, science, architecture, sustainability, business, design, or project management.
