The Technical College is located in the purpose-built International Aviation Academy Norwich, an aviation centre of excellence, providing state of the art classrooms and workshops and allowing hands on experience on the live Boeing 737 Classic Generation aircraft. The facility is located near to the maintenance hangars, making it a convenient and inspirational place to study. Our college provides a range of EASA and UK CAA approved technical courses including basic training, type training and apprenticeship programs
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Type Training Instructor to join our Technical College team. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about passing on their knowledge and skills helping to shape the future of aircraft maintenance professional. In this role you will design, deliver and assess approved Aircraft Type courses to KLM UK Engineering staff, students and other third-party customers in compliance within National and International regulatory requirements and standards. This position is based at the International Aviation Academy Norwich and is Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out effective training course delivery (both theoretical and practical) in accordance with EASA Pt 147 & Pt 66 requirements and HE / Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards.
Maintain effective lessons support materials to meet Learning Outcomes and representative Training Needs Analysis
When training away from base, ensure that 3rd party premises remain compliant with requirements of Pt 147.
Undertake the duties of an approved Examiner, exam question compiler, practical assessor and Invigilator.
Ensure that practical training sessions are conducted in accordance with standard maintenance procedures and are undertaken in a safe manner in accordance with current H&S Legislation, COSHH and company procedures
Regular review of assessment criteria in accordance with Pt 147 / Part 66 requirements
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge for new trends / technology in the aviation industry
Undertake training course design including Training Needs and Customer Analysis, setting of Learning Outcomes and development of supporting course materials.
Undertake timely and effective training course evaluations ensuring that training course materials remain accurate and current.
Understand the purpose and importance of the Company's internal safety reporting scheme (Occurrence Reports) and safety investigations is to improve safety, not to apportion blame to individuals.
Maintain currency in aircraft type authorised to instruct and remain compliant with Part 147 continuation and compliance training requirements.
Provide effective course planning in accordance with training plans and schedules.
Assist Head of Technical College with operational and financial strategic planning related to type course delivery.
Carry out effective training course delivery (both theoretical and practical) in accordance with EC 1321/2014 Annex III Pt 66 and Annex IV, Pt 147 requirements, HE / Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) standards and Ofsted framework requirements
Maintain effective lessons support materials to meet Learning Objectives and indicated levels of Pt 66 and the representative Training Needs Analysis in order to help students to make strong levels of progress
To adhere to the college safeguarding policy and processes and undertake regular safeguarding training as required
Carry out any other reasonable request which may be directed from time to time
Selection Criteria
Essential
Have a Part-147 CofR B1/B2 (Theory and Practical) relevant to Embraer ERJ-170 & 190 Series (GE CF34)
and/or
Part-147 CofR B1/B2 (Theory and Practical) relevant to Airbus A318/A319/A320/A321 (CFM56, IAE V2500, CFM LEAP01B and IAE PW1100G)
Have a minimum of one year's proven experience on the relevant aircraft type gained in a Civil Aviation environment
or
3 years' experience on similar types
or
hold a valid EASA/UK CAA Part 145 CRS Authorisation on the relevant aircraft type.
Have the right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
Desirable
Hold a Part 66 AML with Categories B1 & B2
Hold a Part-147 CofR B1/B2 (Theory and Practical) relevant to Embraer ERJ-190 Series (PW1900G)
Hold an Instructor Training certificate delivered by a legal entity or Train the Trainer course with thorough understanding of training methodologies.
Have proven knowledge of training design, planning and the application of knowledge.
Detailed understanding of Part 147 and Part 66 legislation.
Demonstratable teaching /instruction experience in commercial aircraft type courses and / or basic Part 66 modules within an approved Pt 147 organisation. (with 2 years recency)
Behave professionally at all times, employing sound equality, diversity, and exclusivity principles in dealing with colleagues, students, and customers.
Be active in improving processes with a positive attitude to continuous improvement.
Be a confident, clear communicator with the desire and ability to inspire, appraise, mentor and develop others.
