Our UK operation has achieved significant growth in the last 4 years and is central to Version 1\'s growth plans. We are inviting you to be a part of the leadership team accountable for delivering world-class services to our UK Public Sector customers.



We are seeking a highly experienced Technologist with extensive UK Public Sector experience to join our UK Digital Team. As the technology envoy of the Digital Practice for Public Sector, you will report to the Head of Digital and work closely with our Head of UK Public Sector, UK Sector Portfolio Directors and with other Practices to identify and shape future engagements.

You will liaise with customers to understand their needs and roadmap ambitions and help align our software professionals\' skills to meet future customer and industry demands.

We are highly active in the Microsoft and AWS landscape, driven by a growing demand from our customers for speed of deployment, scalability, and greater cost efficiencies. As such, we are seeking a technologist with a strong background in these areas.
  • Accountable for the successful technical delivery of UK Digital Public Sector projects, with a focus on ensuring engineering excellence, scalability, security, and alignment to industry standards (e.g., NCSC/CDDO/OWASP).
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the UK public sector, including government agencies, local authorities, and other public sector organisations. Regular face-to-face customer interaction is expected.
  • Work closely with the UK Head of Public Sector/ Portfolio Directors to develop account plans, bid responses, and initiatives which align to wider Version 1 commercial and growth goals.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the public sector and collaborate closely with the Digital, Data and Platform Practices to ensure future staff training needs are aligned.
  • Develop and implement standards and best practices for technical solutions within the public sector.
  • Lead our technical professionals within Public Sector engagements, providing guidance and support as needed. Line management and staff development activities are also an expectation of the role.
  • Work with a diverse client base and engage across multiple UK Public Sector project engagements.
  • Be involved in the tech community and stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies.
Qualifications

Essential Criteria
  • Strong understanding of full-cycle Software Engineering, Quality Engineering and Design thinking.
  • Significant experience in solution design and excellent technical and implementation experience in developing Web Applications at scale
  • Commercially experienced, with strong ability to communicate effectively with all levels of a client organisation, you\'ll have a proven track record of scoping ambiguous business needs into clearly defined bid responses, work packages, estimates, and contracts.
  • Experience in reviewing programme and project level estimates, shaping winning bids and reviewing technical aspects of contracts/SOWs.
  • Self-starter who can take on assignments and drive through to completion. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong customer-centric ethos, with the ability to work well as part of a team and be self-motivated. A passion for innovation and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Extensive UK Public Sector engagement experience
  • The ability to travel and meet customers regularly
