Person specification
We are looking for a highly motivated and creative communicator who is inspired by the role that Assystem plays in accelerating the global energy transition through the development of low carbon power. The successful candidate will have both the knowledge and the enthusiasm required to get stuck in and create engaging stories, events and campaigns that align with Assystem\xe2\x80\x99s corporate narrative and connect with the company\xe2\x80\x99s primary external audiences of clients and candidates. The role is suited to a candidate who is ready to take the next step in their career and progress from specialist to manager with a company who will the support them in this development journey.
The role

  • Responsible for the external communications programme for the UK business which includes:
  • Implementing the 2024 strategy for the UK business and taking a lead in devising future strategies.
  • The production of news stories about Assystem for PR campaigns, the corporate website, or LinkedIn channel.
  • Oversee the UKs new Instagram account with the support of an external agency.
  • Drafting thought-leadership articles for trade media.
  • Handling media enquiries, media monitoring, building, and maintaining relationships with key journalists, preparing spokespeople for media interviews, writing key messages, and organising media training.
  • Project management of the recruitment communication plan including oversight of the paid media plan.
  • Lead on the delivery of external events in the UK with the support of the Events Assistant in your team. You will also support (when required) the international team to deliver external events, (launches, exhibitions or any other client or media event).
  • You will also be responsible for creating stories about our international markets on corporate social media. You will be part of a global marketing & communications team and on occasion will be required to support the team to deliver wider corporate initiatives.
Location Will be required to work a minimum of 2 days in the Blackburn office each week. Must be able to travel as needed to UK locations and able to undertake some international travel with advance notice. #LI-Hybrid Hybrid remote/in-office Reporting You are part of the Group Marketing & Communications Department and will report directly to the International Communications Manager, Jill Williams. You will have responsibility for one direct report

Qualifications
  • You are a graduate.
  • You can demonstrate that you have the skills to deliver the tasks required in the role.
  • CIPR qualification or any other communications focused training is desirable.
  • You are an excellent writer, capable of writing newsworthy stories and with a good sense of what makes a story, possessing the ability to transform technical reports and business updates into news that is relevant to a wider audience.
  • You are excellent at building relationships with journalists and can identify through research and monitoring a network of contacts with whom to engage. You are good at pitching potential story ideas to journalists and are happy to set up face-to-face meetings with key contacts to strengthen relationships and gain insight into their media.
  • You enjoy and have experience of working in the technical/industrial sector.
  • You are passionate about the energy transition and the global fight against climate change.
  • You have experience managing social media accounts.
  • You have experience in event management.
  • You are news savvy and follow the news agenda closely. You understand how to build varied content to create a story suitable for different types of media.
  • You understand how government policy affects the direction of the nuclear and energy industry and the role of media relations in effective government relations.
  • You are creative and thrive on generating new ideas.
  • You are a self-starter who is very organised, proactive and comfortable working to deadlines.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, capable of appreciating differing working styles and being flexible to the preferences of others.
  • You like working in a dynamic environment, always ready to take on new challenges.
  • You are comfortable with Office 365 suite.
  • You are comfortable working in an international environment, adapting to different cultures.
