Working for the UK Group Financial Controller, the UK Group Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the accounts for 6 UK registered entities, which include the consolidation of associated non-UK entities under UK GAAP, with a strong focus on statutory accounts preparation, audit work, and UK GAAP compliance.
Working closely with the Financial Accountant, this role is the primary day-to-day contact for audit and accounts matters, particularly in relation to UK GAAP requirements, including consolidations and conversions from other local GAAPs. The UK Group Accounting Manager will also play a key role in supporting process improvements within the finance function
Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts for UK group entities, including consolidations and conversions to UK GAAP, for both the UK-based entities and the associated consolidation under UK GAAP of the non-UK entities.
  • Maintain accurate books and records for UK entities, including regular balance sheet and P&L reviews, working closely with related offices and with the Finance team in Manila and Tampa.
  • Act as the main day-to-day contact for UK external auditors, managing the timely response to audit queries and preparing audit working papers.
  • Actively research current and future UK GAAP, as it relates to White & Case accounting policies and assist the UK Group Financial Controller in designing the changes needed to remain compliant while ensuring Finance remains fast and efficient.
  • Assist in the development of tools and software to enable fast, accurate and audit-ready Financial Statement compilation.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policies and best practice guidelines to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Accountant and with Finance Managers of related countries on all aspects of accounts preparation and audit support
  • Assist in the mentoring and training of finance staff as needed.
  • Liaise with global accounting teams regarding UK GAAP and cross-border accounting issues.
  • Support the UK Group Financial Controller with ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience, including statutory audit work.
  • Strong technical expertise in UK GAAP (including consolidations) and relevant accounting standards for law firms (e.g. LLP SORP).
  • Auditor-side experience of professional services firms, preferably of law firms.
  • Demonstrated experience in statutory accounts preparation for limited companies and Partnerships is essential.
  • Experience with 3E or similar financial systems is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage workload and deadlines independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Location & Reporting
  • This role is based in London, and reports into the UK Group Financial Controller based in London.
  • Our standard office hours are 9:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 4 days in the office (Monday - Thursday) per week.
