About the Role

------------------



We're looking for a commercially minded and detaildriven Underwriter to join our Specialist Mortgages division. This new role supports the continued expansion of our Field Underwriting proposition by providing highquality underwriting from head office while working closely with our elite broker partners.



A key part of this opportunity is

finding a candidate who is open to future progression into a Field Underwriter position

, managing and developing relationships with key accounts

in a specific region

as the field model expands.



You will underwrite cases across all Specialist Mortgages asset classes - including BuytoLet, HMOs, ShortTerm Lets, SemiCommercial, and Commercial - ensuring decisions are robust, riskaligned, and deliver an excellent broker and customer experience.



This is an exciting chance to help shape and elevate an evolving underwriting model, working directly with the Head of Field Underwriting to drive bestinclass service and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Specialist Mortgage Underwriting

Underwrite mortgage applications within delegated authority Analyse credit searches, bank statements, financials, portfolios & valuations Form wellreasoned lending recommendations and escalate where required Balance commercial judgement with strong risk discipline

Quality, Risk & Due Diligence

Ensure appropriate customer due diligence and AML checks Maintain low arrears and operational losses through highquality decisions Adhere to lending policy, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements

Stakeholder & Broker Engagement

Build strong relationships with key brokers and introducers Communicate decisions and requirements with clarity and efficiency Work closely with Sales, Risk & Compliance, and Specialist Mortgage teams

Pipeline & Service Management

Manage a pipeline through to offer stage, maintaining service standards Provide timely and clear updates to brokers and internal colleagues Focus on fast, consistent, and reliable decisionmaking

Team Collaboration & Delivery

Support colleagues across Underwriting and Specialist Mortgages Step up when needed to deliver an exceptional customer journey Contribute to shaping and improving the Field Underwriting model

What We're Looking For

Experienced underwriter across BTL, HMOs, ShortTerm Lets, SemiCommercial & Commercial Understanding of the mortgage intermediary market and underwriting legislation Field underwriting experience welcomed, but

not essential

Strong risk awareness and commercial judgement Excellent communication and relationshipmanagement skills Customercentric mindset with a flexible, solutionsoriented approach Ability to adapt to new propositions, products, and markets Teamoriented with a collaborative mindset
