This Unit Leader position will be responsible for the South England area.
What will you be doing?
As a Unit Leader for BES Infrastructure, you will be responsible for the successful deployment of technically and operationally competent resources to deliver Structural Inspections, Investigations and Surveys across a wide range of infrastructure civil engineering assets.
The Unit Leader will look after a team of up to 25, ensuring that staff are highly engaged and receive the necessary support and development. As well as being responsible for management of staff performance and wellbeing usually across a geographical area.
You will:

  • Promote safe working practices at all times and actively participate, and where appropriate to lead, in safety initiatives providing support to others as required
  • Work with the Engineering Management Team to ensure that staff competence is managed effectively, through appropriate training, mentorship and assessment, then maintained through technical briefings & site observations
  • Ensure that the resourcing and delivery of all activities is done in accordance with project requirements
  • Lead on health and safety investigations in accordance with XEIAD accident and incident investigation procedures
  • Support the ongoing development of members of staff including the broadening of technical and operational knowledge through mentoring and coaching
  • Engage professionally with clients and other key external stakeholders as required creating strong relationships with key individuals

To join our team, you will need:
  • Experience in a relevant leadership, supervision or people management position
  • Knowledge and understanding of delivering works safely within an engineering or infrastructure environment
  • Proven ability of working effectively within a team environment with a dedicated approach to motivating and developing technical and operational teams
  • Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management is ideal
  • Highways Safety Passport or Railway PTS desirable
  • Working knowledge of Specialist Access (e.g. IRATA, Confined Space, IPAF, CAA GVC, HSE Diving) is desirable
  • UK Driving license
