Job Description

Position Summary

The Unit Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations of a care unit designed for a maximum of 18 residents. Although qualified nursing staff are available on-site, this is a non-clinical, managerial role ensuring high-quality person-centred care, compliance with regulatory standards, and smooth coordination among the care team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Team Management



Supervise and support care staff during day shifts, including rostering, performance management, and development. Foster a positive, person-centred care culture, promoting respect, dignity, and independence for residents. Conduct regular team meetings, one-to-ones, and training sessions to maintain high standards of care and teamwork.

2. Resident Experience & Wellbeing



Ensure each resident receives individualised care plans and consistent monitoring of their wellbeing. Act as primary point of contact for residents and families, addressing concerns, feedback, and liaising on care preferences for your unit.

3. Operational Management



Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation. Work alongside nursing staff to escalate clinical concerns promptly; ensure clear handover of information at each shift change.

4. Compliance & Quality Assurance



Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., CQC, local authority requirements) and company policies. Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives. Implement action plans to address audit findings and drive continuous improvement.

5. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement



Liaise with registered nurses, healthcare professionals, and external agencies as needed. Report unit performance to senior management, highlighting successes and areas for development. Build and maintain positive relationships with families, visitors, and community partners.
Qualifications & Experience

NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)

. Proven managerial experience in a residential care setting. Excellent understanding of person-centred care principles and relevant legislation/regulations.
Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership, motivational, and interpersonal skills. Effective communication and conflict-resolution abilities. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Proficient in record-keeping and basic IT applications (e.g., care management systems, MS Office).
Working Conditions

Full-time, permanent position on day shifts across Monday to Sunday with 12?hour shifts, totalling 48 contracted hours per week.

Pay: Up to 16.00 per hour
