Purpose:



The Leeds United Foundation is seeking to appoint a passionate and self-motivated individual to assist the flag American Football programme on behalf of a consortium of organisations in targeted areas of Leeds. The programme is aimed at increasing activity levels and creating sustained behaviour change through flag American football in a 'place-based' approach. To achieve this, we will work together with local partners to create a flag football plan for sessions focusing on community engagement. The suitable candidate will be organised and have great communication skills. The suitable candidate will be a key networker with good knowledge of the local communities and the inequalities that make certain communities less active than others.

Main areas of responsibility:



The Flag Football coach will:

Working in collaboration with the NFL and 49ers, providing progress updates as required over the duration of the project to the Senior Coordinator. Planning and delivering sessions on a weekly basis ensuring sessions are adaptive and well participated and all data is liaised with the Senior Coordinator. The selected candidate will be required to lead session in the community and all school settings. Some of these sessions maybe on a weekend. Fully engage with the community leaders of your targeted area to attract children and young adults aged between 7 - 20 year olds to each session on a regular basis arranging regular media interaction for the project. Facilitate and manage the relationships with local community leaders developing new local relationships with community groups and organisations. Work in collaboration with the Senior Coordinator for the targeted areas requirements and needs. Ensure all project sessions are fit to the communities needs and are enjoyable and professional.

Person specification:



ESSENTIAL:

Hold a minimum FA level 2 or UEFA C Qualification Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build relationships with different audiences. A flexible approach to working hours to include evening and weekend work. Experience of community engagement, links into communities and knowledge of networks linked to local communities. Previous experience of working with projects creating successful conclusions Experience of creating and maintaining relationships with external partners and working on behalf of your organisation to influence the successful delivery of services A high-level understanding of inequalities that exist across socio economic groups in supporting active lives, how they intersect and experience of working to reduce these. Experience of, and ability to prepare and implement sporting sessions.
DESIRABLE:

Multi Sports Level 2 qualification Some knowledge of sport development and sport/physical activity infrastructure is desirable. Knowledge of the American Football game Experience of working at a local level with community organisations in Beeston & Holbeck, Hunslet & City and Chapeltown
