Job Description

The advertised job is an exciting development to join the Urology Nurse Specialist Team. The successful candidates will join an established Urological Cancer/Benign team . We are a highly motivated cohesive team that has formed from the merger between the Royal Liverpool and Aintree University Hospital Urology departments.



The successful candidates will work with the existing team to deliver nurse led telephone assessment clinics and manages patients through the Clinical Pathways including; diagnostic imaging, biopsies and diagnosis . Currently the service is delivered across Aintree and Royal sites . The merger between the two hospitals is a great opportunity to reconfigure our service to best manage our urology patients in Merseyside.



The candidate needs to be an experienced Urology nurse with experience. The job will include mentoring from our current team. Key attributes for the individual should include: ability to work in a team; confidence to also work autonomously; a desire to improve clinical patient care; be a good communicator, and be compassionate to our patients.

Perform specialist personalised, assessment and higher level discussion of patient's holistic needs, resulting in personalised care planning and evaluation of care delivery using advanced clinical knowledge and clinical skills.



Demonstrate higher level clinical care by managing a patient caseload providing expert assessment, planning and evaluation.



Co-ordinate and manage nurse-led clinics (within Speciality).



Contribute towards a multi-professional approach in the management of patients within the specialist area, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements, including providing access to community cancer support.



Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers / relatives.



Support patients and their families and ensure that they receive the required information to enable them to self manage, lead or participate in their care delivery.



Recognise changes in patient's condition that require the intervention of others and case manage/refer on as appropriate.



To support, assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management.



To lead the specialist nursing contribution to the service, in the delivery of high standards of patient care.



To lead the specialist nursing contribution to the service, work in partnership with lead clinicians, Lead Cancer Nurse, Head of Operations, and Matron to ensure the delivery of high standards of patient care.
