Brief Description
To provide specialist support to the business on utilities related; information management, delivery of projects and inspection of assets.
#
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities-
1. Advise and inform the business (e.g. Project, Route, Workplace Management, Bureau Team, STE) on utilities processes in accordance with company procedures to monitor supplies effectively and minimise utilities costs and carbon.
2. Maintain accurate asset knowledge in the utilities database to keep the wider businesses informed.
3. Investigate billing and supply issues and advise on solution to maintain continuity of supply for operation of the network and minimise costs.
4. Establish consumption and negotiate on-charging and off-charging fiscal liabilities for TOCs, FOCs and other third parties so that costs are recovered fairly and risks are minimised.
Essential
Ability to complete track safety competence where relevant including:
+ Personal Track Safety (PTS)
+ Individual Working Alone (IWA) and
+ Level C: Access & Egress Traction and/or non-traction locations Educated to HNC/HND or equivalent relevant work experience
Good general IT skills
Good communication and analytical skills, with proven ability to present information effectively and appropriately
Experience of extracting information and reporting from multiple sources, including databases
Desirable
Degree or equivalent
Day in the life of this role-
Review utility usage reports and identify anomalies or spikes in consumption across our N&E sites. Report through to finance team, investigate and remediate.
Visit sites to inspect Building Management Systems (BMS), liaise with facilities teams, and troubleshoot issues affecting energy performance.
Meet with contractors to discuss ongoing works, service delivery, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
Collaborate with sustainability leads to implement carbon reduction initiatives and monitor progress against targets.
Respond to queries from site managers regarding utility billing, metering, or system faults, keeping stakeholders up to date during processes.
Update asset records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.
Attend route-level meetings to report on utility performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Salary
: 30,117
