Salary Dependant on Experience

The successful candidates will also be utilising the branch van to make deliveries to customers in and around the local area and for our Essex based branches.

For this reason, a full and valid driving licence is a required.

When not operating the van to make deliveries, you will be responsible for working in our Romford branch yard and assisting with the maintenance and running of storage yards and related facilities, including such duties as manually loading and unloading materials, operating mechanical loading equipment, preparing materials for customer collections/deliveries, dealing with trade and general public customers, and keeping accurate records of the receipt and issue of stores items.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Delivering goods to customers in a correct manner.

Prompt turnaround of our own vehicles

Provide excellent customer service serving customers promptly and efficiently

Clean and tidy yard to include perimeter checks as necessary

Checks incoming goods against suppliers delivery note

Assign materials to the proper yard location

Records all materials leaving the yard

Unload and load incoming and outgoing vehicles

Maintain and merchandise the yard stock

Willing to perform any duties as may be deemed necessary or as may be required by the Company

Operating lift truck and Combi Lift

Legislation and Health and Safety

Carry out daily Van and FLT checks

Ensure accidents are kept to a minimum and if in an accident report the accident as soon as possible and in compliance with the Company's accident reporting procedure.

Follow and enforce company health and safety procedures

Depot vehicle turnaround (minimise down time)

Adherence to customer charter and health and safety legislation and compliance

Skills and Qualities

Valid Driving Licence

Good communication skills

Counterbalance lift truck licence/Fork lift

Experience of working in a similar role

A knowledge of good practice relating to Health and Safety Regulations

Methodical and organised and able to work on own initiative

Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions

Ability to maintain simple records

Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform work required
