DEPARTMENT: Tax, BBC Group Finance.
LOCATION: UK wide.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 44,000 - 46,000pa (pro rata's to 17,600 - 18,400pa), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The
VAT Accountant
role is centred around the development and maintenance of compliance processes to ensure that the BBC Group meets its statutory obligations in respect of VAT and Indirect taxes in the UK, and a handful of overseas entities.
Please note this is a 2 day a week job share position.

VAT Accountant
, you will provide professional financial support to a range of stakeholders, effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence. You will be part of the BBC Group Tax team, and report specifically to the VAT Finance Business Partner.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
As a
VAT Accountant
you will undertake the following duties:
Management and preparation of the Monthly Group VAT Returns for the UK business
Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations across BBC Group and ad hoc VAT projects when required. Liaising with business stakeholders, the outsourced team in India, BBC Finance Teams and HMRC about routine VAT queries;
Assisting the VAT Finance Business Partner with VAT Group Management;
Delivering VAT training to different teams across the BBC Business;
Continuous process improvement across all of the BBC's indirect tax compliance processes;
Support the VAT Finance Business Partner to ensure that the BBC's VAT policies are up to date as regards changes in the business, SAP processes and VAT legislation;
Help manage overseas VAT recovery process across the BBC Group.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy with financial information
Experience working with SAP
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
It would also be helpful, but not necessary if you have had experience of the preparation of VAT returns and an understanding of indirect tax principles
