Veterinary Receptionist

Optivet is an independent practice providing first line 24/7 emergency care with expert emergency clinicians as well as providing a specialist referral service in Ophthalmology, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia.

About the role
We are looking for both
Full time and Part time
receptionists on the following shift patterns:
FULL TIME
- Monday to Friday working week one 07:30 - 16:00, week two 12:00 - 21:00 (40 hours) on a rotating basis
PART TIME
- Saturday and Sunday week one 07:30 - 16:00, week two 10:30 - 19:00 on a rotating basis (16 hours)
The role consists of the following:
Welcoming clients to the practice and ensuring they are looked after immediately
Answering the phone, responding clearly to requests, booking client appointments using the system and sending out relevant information or directing them to the Optivet website where appropriate.
Handling emergencies (flow chart), liaising with vets to ensure the right course of action is taken.
Providing information for direct claims including disclaimers where required. Ensure you gather history to complete policy checks
Taking client payments
Completing admin tasks to support the service
Maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, referring vets and the public

About you
To succeed in this role, you must be dynamic, well organised with exceptional attention to detail. You must be able to show empathy and work in a fast-paced environment, whilst remaining calm and demonstrating exemplary team-working skills.
Above all, you must be passionate about providing a high standard and quality of care to our patients and clients.
In addition:
Proven strong and effective verbal communication techniques both on the telephone and face to-face.
Demonstrates a professional level of English language when sending out written communication.
Understand the ethical requirements of a referral veterinary practice.
Strong computer skills.
Experience in a similar role, as a receptionist or as a VCA is preferable
Our package
Starting salary - 12.26 per hour (annual salary will be based on contractual hours)
