Job Description

The Mount Veterinary Practice is an independent, small, friendly companion animal practice with a focus on excellent communication and client/patient care. We currently have 3 vets and are looking to expand our team with either a part time or full time veterinary surgeon and can be flexible with regards to days. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30-6.30 and Saturday 8.30-11.30 with 15 minute consultations. Full time vets typically work 4 days (one early finish) with a fixed rota (same day off weekly) and there would be a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota. Our out of hours are covered by a local independent practice.

Responsibilities include routine consultations and surgeries, though we can accommodate either a consulting or surgical bias. We like to work up our cases in house where possible and our clients appreciate having case continuity with their preferred vet. All members of the team enjoy building relationships with our clients and their pets. Although we are not Fear Free certified we practice many of the techniques throughout all areas of the practice. Although we have a small reception area we have managed to create separate dog and cat waiting areas which our clients appreciate. We aim to have weekly vet meetings to discuss cases, protocols, and get input from the team and monthly full staff lunch meetings. CPD is encouraged and funded.

The practice is well equipped with digital xray, ultrasound, endoscope, tonopen, in house Idexx machines, etc, and is also a nurse training practice. We also have a GDP Adviser so would be able to support a new graduate. We are a friendly team that like to have a chat while we work (good sense of humour preferred!).
