About the Role
The Vice President (VP) of Professional Services - Life Sciences is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing consulting and implementation services across our solutions portfolio, ensuring client success, and driving business growth. This role includes full P&L (Profit & Loss) accountability for our services offering. We are looking for a strategic leader who can optimise financial performance while delivering high-quality services. The VP will work closely with sales, delivery, and product teams to enhance service offerings and expand market presence and will be a member of the Life Sciences Management Team and lead a team of 25-30 people.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & P&L Accountability:

  • Owning and managing the P&L for professional services, ensuring revenue growth and profitability. Monitoring financial performance, budgets, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement. Optimizing service pricing models, resource utilization, and operational efficiency to maximize margins.
  • Developing and executing a strategic vision for our services group - aligned with business objectives. Building and executing a long-term strategic plan that positions Life Sciences Professional Services as a market leader and supports overall portfolio growth
Service Delivery & Client Success:
Overseeing the scoping and execution of life sciences datasets, software implementation and content integration projects, driving successful outcomes for the customer and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Ensuring projects are delivered on time, remain within budget, and consistently meet client expectations. Establishing best practices, methodologies, processes and frameworks for service excellence, promoting a culture of quality whilst driving commercial outcomes.
Team Management & Development:
Building, mentoring and managing a high-performing team of consultants, project managers, and system engineers. Driving talent acquisition, retention, and skill development to maintain a competitive edge. Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
Ensuring optimal allocation of resources to projects based on skill sets, availability, and project requirements to maximize productivity and minimize downtime. Implementing robust capacity planning and forecasting techniques to anticipate resource needs and manage workloads effectively.
Ensuring the entire professional services team engages proactively across key portfolio development functions within the Life Sciences business e.g. Product, Data Science, Technology
Client Relationship & Engagement:
Serving as an executive sponsor for key LSS clients, ensuring strong relationships and long-term partnerships. Addressing escalations, resolving challenges, and driving customer satisfaction through proactive engagement. Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and recommendations to support their business and innovation goals.
Sales, Business Development & Growth:
Collaborating closely with sales and pre-sales teams to support solution selling and proposal development. Collaborating with the customer success team, helping to refine customer engagement processes and handover points. Identifying and driving upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts to enhance existing revenue streams and identify new ones.
Partnerships, Industry Engagement and Innovation:
Staying updated on innovations and industry best practices to inform service delivery and client engagement strategies. Identifying new customer / market trends and innovations and work with the Life Sciences Product team to drive innovation across our portfolio. Representing the company at conferences, industry events, and executive meetings, building relationships and enhancing brand visibility.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within professional services, with deep focus in the life sciences sector
Advanced understanding of consulting practices, project management and client relationship management
Demonstrated success in P&L management, financial forecasting and operational efficiency
Excellent proven leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to drive team performance and client satisfaction
Possess a high level of commercial acumen
Be a proactive, strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement
Knowledge of B2B Corporate sectors combined with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a globally matrixed organization across functions and regions.
