Job Description

Portfolio required

Job Context:

As a Videographer & Editor, you are a key contributor to the quality and execution of the studio's video productions. Reporting to the Head of Video, you will support in delivering the highest technical standards for the agency's video output.

Your primary focus is on delivering technical excellence through skilled videography - encompassing camera operation, lighting, and audio capture - based on creative briefs and direction from Head of Video, Producers, and other key stakeholders. You will apply strong on-set problem-solving skills to ensure smooth execution. While videography is the priority, your competent editing skills will also be utilised to support the post-production process. You will use your technical ability to achieve great results and collaborate effectively within the production team to implement the creative vision.

Beyond delivering reliable and high-quality footage and initial edits, you may help identify practical ways to improve efficiency or technical quality in our production processes based on your hands-on experience.

At a project level, you will support the Head of Video, Video Producers, Editors, and Client Services by reliably executing shoots and editing captured content that meet client requirements. Your ability to consistently capture engaging, high-quality video work is vital to the success of our projects and the overall quality perception of the agency.

Job Responsibilities:

Execute video shoots according to creative briefs, storyboards, and plans developed by the Head of Video, Video Producers, and Creative Director. Work closely with Producers to understand project requirements, shot lists, and desired visual styles before and during shoots. Ability to work independently or within a larger crew as and when required. Set up, operate, and manage a range of professional camera systems (FX6, FX3, A7s iii), lighting equipment, and audio recording gear, ensuring optimal configuration for each shot. Capture high-quality primary footage (A-roll) and compelling supplementary footage (B-roll) following the established shot list and creative direction. Assist the Producer or Director on set with guiding on-camera talent and subjects as needed, ensuring performance aligns with the brief. Ensure optimal audio quality through correct microphone placement, level monitoring, and recording techniques during filming. Perform meticulous on-set data wrangling, including media management, quality checks of footage/audio, and secure footage backup protocols. Maintain all assigned videography and associated equipment, ensuring it is organised, charged, updated, and in optimal working order; report any issues promptly. Perform editing of captured footage as directed, assembling sequences, syncing audio, and creating initial and iterative cuts. Implement internal and external feedback to edits. Apply colour correction, sound mixing/design, and add titles/graphics to refine edits, following established guidelines or specific instructions. Organise video assets, project files, and contribute to archival processes following team standards. Collaborate effectively with Producers, the Head of Video, and other key stakeholders, clearly understanding instructions and providing timely updates or technical feedback. Prepare final video files in various formats as instructed for different distribution channels. Manage assigned tasks efficiently within agreed project timelines and shoot schedules set by Head of Video. Provide practical, technical input regarding equipment capabilities and execution methods when requested during planning stages.
