Sense is recruiting a Virtual Buddying Project Coordinator, this is a part time fixed term, hybrid role based between home and either our offices in Selly Oak, Birmingham, due to end on March 31st 2026.
The successful candidate will coordinate and manage a high quality national Virtual Buddying befriending project for children, young people and adults with a disability. You will lead all project work relating to volunteers, working closely with project members and internal and external teams, as well as ensuring the project is conducted in a safe and effective manner, in accordance with Sense policies and procedures.
The main duties and responsibilities include:
Carry out administrative tasks to maintain accurate and up to date records for all buddies and volunteers and to fulfil tasks required for project delivery, using various IT and digital systems including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and online software.
To work closely with the Volunteer team to manage a high-quality journey for volunteers, including recruitment, interviewing and training and gathering feedback,
To have high aspirations for quality and growth, working towards agreed targets and outcomes.
To work closely with the Fundraising team to support the development of funding streams and corporate volunteering partnerships.
To lead on communications planning and delivery on the Virtual Buddying project, including social media and newsletters.
To manage and analyse a range of volunteer data across multiple databases to support the continued development of the programme
Ensure that appropriate arrangements and guidance are in place in relation to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
To respond to safeguarding situations and alert the necessary staff and agencies, signposting families/carers to external sources of support where appropriate.
To monitor and evaluate the project through different formats and processes, including digital record-keeping and collecting feedback.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Experience of managing programmes or services for children, young people, or adults.
Demonstrable experience of supporting people with disabilities, including experience of working with people with non-formal communication methods.
Experience of recruiting, managing and supporting volunteers and / or substantial experience of working as part of team which includes volunteers directly providing care and support for children, young people or adults.
Experience of putting in place processes that ensure the safeguarding of children, young people and adults.
Highly skilled in the use of IT, including the use of word processing packages, spreadsheets, databases and other online software.
Good communication skills with the ability to adapt your communication for different audiences.
Experience of building partnerships and relationships to support or develop a programme or service.
Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects, using a range of sources.
Highly skilled in the use of video calling software packages including Zoom and Teams.
Demonstrable commitment to equal opportunities and diversity.
Willingness to complete any training required by the role.
To be able to travel as needed to meet the needs of the role. Team meetings are held in London or Birmingham on average once every two months.
