Visiting Music Teacher Piano

Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a Visiting Music Teacher - Piano to work on a casual basis. The purpose of the role is to prepare and give lessons in piano to pupils in our Primary and Secondary School (including 6th form).

The position will see the successful applicant delivering the following key responsibilities;

Key responsibilities



Deliver well-structured, accessible and engaging lessons to support pupils to make progress on their instrument/voice

Organising their own timetable in accordance with the School day and required rotation system

Arranging ensemble rehearsals when required and be willing to undertake accompaniment duties

Provide support to the music department and undertake any appropriate tasks as requested by the Director of Music

to attend concerts, recitals, other events and parents' evenings as requested by the Director of Music

using a register system to record pupils' practice and attendance.

Covering music theory in lessons and managing their time effectively so pupils receive well-rounded lessons.

Thoroughly prepare and enter pupils for ABRSM exams with the aim of achieving excellent results.

Be responsible for own professional development through active learning and reflective practice. Attend training as required including INSET days at the start of each term and a termly VMT meeting

The provision of a safe environment in which children and young people feel heard

Being aware of the indicators of abuse and neglect

Ensuring vigilance in recognising changes in behaviour or mood

Reporting safeguarding concerns in line with the School's Safeguarding Children and Child Protection Policy

Attending Safeguarding training and updates as requested by the School

The duties of this role meet the definition of regulated activity relevant to children and an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list is appropriate.
