The school is seeking to engage a self-employed singing teacher to join us as a Visiting Music Teacher (VMT). VMTs report to the senior school Director of Music and/or Prep Head of Music and Performing Arts. Currently we are looking for someone to teach in the senior school, however there may be opportunity to teach our prep school children (up to 11 years) as well.
The music department currently works with over 30 VMTs who teach a wide range of instruments to meet the high demand of pupils interested in music. Our VMTs are encouraged to take an active part in the wide ranging musical activities and concerts the school has to offer.
There are likely to be at least three students looking to receive singing lessons each week with a new VMT and we hope that this number will increase over time.
There may be the option to lead ensembles; these are paid by the school and therefore require a contract of employment.
We are seeking a music teacher who demonstrates:
Excellent singing and performance ability, underlined by an appropriate level of qualification.
Music teaching experience, preferably in a school environment.
Experience of teaching senior aged children is essential while experience teaching prep aged children is desirable.
Passion for teaching and inspiring young students.
Good organisational skills and reliability.
Dynamic and enthusiastic teaching style
.
This is a self-employed post and as such you will determine your own hourly rate within the music department's charging structure. The VMT will be responsible for invoicing students' parents directly. The school charges a small facilities fee for each block of lessons taught.
Lessons are taught for 30 weeks per year during term time, across the school week. Days and times are agreed in advance with the music department and with students.
