One Sixth Form, Ipswich 1 FTE - 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year - Permanent Salary: 24,404 - 25,183 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience) Actual Salary: 21,778 - 22,473 per annum
We are seeking a Visual Arts Technician to support the day-to-day operation of our art, design, and media spaces. The role involves maintaining and organising tools, materials, and consumables, ensuring that studios and workshops are safe, well-equipped, and ready for use. The technician will work closely with other technicians, teachers, and students, providing practical support, technical guidance, and troubleshooting to enable learners to develop their creative and digital skills. A sound understanding of health and safety regulations within creative environments is essential, along with experience in monitoring stock levels and assisting with procurement processes.

The successful candidate will have experience working with a range of specialist digital equipment which may include, cameras, lighting rigs, and AV setups. Familiarity with traditional processes such as painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture is also desirable. Competence in digital design and media software, particularly Adobe Creative Suite applications including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro is desirable but not essential, with the opportunity to develop skills once in place. The role requires a practical and organised approach, with the ability to support both staff and students in the effective use of creative resources.
