Visual Basic Programmer

The Custom Group Ltd is a well-established business with over 50 years of experience supplying curtains, blinds, AV solutions and drama equipment to educational institutions, new-build projects and public sector organisations across the UK.

We are seeking an experienced Visual Basic Programmer to work closely with our Directors at our modern, open-plan, air-conditioned office and manufacturing facility in Ilkeston, Derbyshire.

We currently operate a suite of bespoke VB6 and VB.NET applications hosted on a local Windows Server environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and future-proof existing applications, ensuring continued compatibility as Windows operating systems and related software evolve.

Enhance and extend the functionality of current applications, which may include modifying existing code, migrating VB6 applications to VB.NET or redeveloping solutions using more modern languages.

Provide general IT support, including assistance with hardware and software maintenance.

We are flexible regarding how this role is structured. Options include employment on a fixed weekly hours basis, freelance work at an hourly or daily rate, or project-based freelance arrangements.

Candidate Requirements:

Proven experience in VB6, VB.NET and Microsoft Access development.

Strong understanding of application behaviour within small network environments running Microsoft Small Business Server.
