Beaver Leader Position Title: Beaver Scout Leader Section: Beavers (Ages 6-8) Reports To: Group Lead volunteer Term: Volunteer, part-time Location: 6th Ramsgate Sea Scouts Time Commitment: Weekly meetings --- Role Purpose: To plan, organize, and lead a safe, engaging, and inclusive Beaver Scout programme in line with the values and goals of the scouting organization. The Beaver Leader helps young children have fun while learning skills for life. --- Key Responsibilities: Programme Planning and Delivery Create and run weekly Beaver Scout meetings that are fun, educational, and varied. Deliver activities that align with the Scouting programme and badge requirements. Ensure that all activities are age-appropriate and risk assessed. Youth Development Support the personal development of Beaver Scouts through teamwork, responsibility, and creativity. Encourage participation in group discussions, games, and outdoor experiences. Leadership and Teamwork Work collaboratively with Assistant Leaders, Young Leaders, and parent helpers. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians. Support the transition of Beavers to the Cub section. Administration and Safety Maintain attendance records, badge records, and health/emergency contact information. Follow safeguarding, safety, and risk management procedures. Attend occasional leader meetings and training sessions. --- Required Skills and Attributes: Enjoys working with young children Good communication and teamwork skills Reliable and organized Creative and enthusiastic Willing to undergo necessary background checks and training (e.g., safeguarding, first aid) --- Training and Support: All Beaver Leaders receive full training and ongoing support, including: Safeguarding and child protection First aid Program planning Leadership skills --- Benefits: Make a real difference in young people's lives Develop valuable leadership and planning skills Be part of a supportive volunteer community Opportunities for recognition and progression within Scouting
