Job Description

Please note this is a voluntary opportunity, we are able to reimburse expenses of up to 40 per visit including travel expenses.

We are looking for adult befrienders to befriend a young person in care and meet once a month. The monthly visit may include going for a walk, a coffee, the cinema, to watch a sports game, swimming, play centres, parks, museums or whatever the young person is interested in.

National Youth Advocacy Service empowers young people in the care system to have their voice listened to. One important part of this is to provide young people with a "befriender, mentor, role model" - someone who takes them out on a fun activity once a month, for a minimum of two years. Children in the care have complex needs and an INDEPENDENT person who gives their time VOLUNTARILY is invaluable to them.
