Overview

We are seeking a friendly and efficient VOLUNTEER Barista & Cafe assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming environment for all customers. This role involves preparing and serving high-quality beverages, maintaining cleanliness standards, and ensuring a smooth operation during busy periods. No previous experience is needed, as training will be provided. The successful volunteers will enjoy working in a dynamic setting that values teamwork and professionalism as well as knowing they are supporting Rotherham Hospice to help people in Rotherham in end of life care.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, and specialised drinks. Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in the workspace. Provide exceptional customer service by taking orders, answering questions, and assisting with menu selections. Handle cash transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system and manage customer payments efficiently. Maintain a clean and organised work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils regularly. Restock supplies as needed to ensure smooth service during shifts. Follow food preparation guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of all products served. Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly without compromising quality.

Skills

Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in food handling (training provided) Serving customers with professionalism and friendliness. Basic food preparation skills to assist with additional tasks as required. Good time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours. Excellent communication skills to interact positively with customers and team members.
