To promote, manage and develop The Hugs Foundation's volunteer programmes. Recruit, engage and manage volunteers to support the work of the Charity with animal rescue and rehabilitation work, human well-being programmes and all other areas of charity operations. To develop relationships with potential corporate and educational establishments to facilitate work placements, work experience, Duke of Edinburgh placements and corporate volunteering opportunities. To work with the Fundraising Manager to develop fundraising initiatives to support volunteer projects.
Key task and responsibilities
Work with all departments to recruit, interview and onboard volunteers.
Work alongside the Operations Manager to create, embed and develop a variety of volunteering programmes.
Create and advertise volunteer roles through local channels.
Deliver inductions, complete necessary paperwork, issue ID cards and provide initial and ongoing training (including mandatory Health & Safety).
To update and improve current volunteer management and development systems.
Supervise and monitor volunteers, maintaining records of activities and training.
Create a volunteer reward and recognition scheme.
Coordinate the volunteer rota and manage communications via SPOND.
Promote volunteering through campaigns and events (including evenings/weekends).
Build relationships with local organisations and attend community networking events.
Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to attract individual, community and corporate volunteers and explore new income streams.
Ensure compliance with volunteering regulations and stay updated on relevant legislation.
Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data in line with GDPR.

Personal Qualities & Experience
Essential:
Previous experience of recruiting and managing volunteers.
Previous experience of working with children, young people and vulnerable adults with additional needs.
Previous experience of networking and building and maintaining effective relationships.
Experience of and a good understanding of Safeguarding legislation.
Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop projects.
Experience of facilitating group sessions encouraging group tasks and activities.
Able to work as part of a team and individually.
Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks and demands whilst maintaining a professional and polite approach to colleagues and visitors.
Excellent IT skills, including social media platforms.
Current driving licence.
Happy to work outside in all weathers.
Desirable:
Previous experience of working in a similar role.
Previous experience of working with horses and other animals.
Experience of working in the charity sector.
Knowledge of the legal responsibilities for an organisation involving volunteers.

*Please note this role is fixed term for 1 year. We are hoping this will be extended, but it will depend on funding.
