Volunteer Minibus Driver
Job Description
Peaceful Place is a day centre for people of working age and older living with dementia.
Our aim is to help our members live their best lives by providing them with activities they can take part in and enjoy.
We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us with the following duties:
To collect our members from their home addresses in the morning and drive them to our day centre in Basildon.
To drive our members home at approximately 3.15pm.
Carry out a vehicle check before commencing journey.
To report any defects.
You will need to have the following skills:
Have held a full driving licence for at least two years.
Good communication skills are required, and you will need to have patience and understanding of our members needs.
Experience of working with people who may be frail, have mobility issues, be sensory impaired or be living with memory loss would be beneficial but is not required.
Knowledge of the local area, first aid and manual handling would be beneficial but is not essential as training will be provided.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role (we will cover the cost)
You will need to have a kind, caring and patient nature and be empathetic to our members.
If you can spare a few hours a week to help, we would love to hear from you. We are happy for you to specify if you can do a morning or afternoon driving shift.
We have a friendly and welcoming team here at the Peaceful Place day centre and we will support you as a volunteer if you choose to help us.
